Description
Dr. Jeff Rose, Ed.D.
On June 1, 2016, Jeff Rose, Ed.D., officially took the helm as Fulton County Schools Superintendent. He was sworn into office earlier in the week and will have a public meet-and-greet for the community later in June.
"I am thrilled to begin a new journey with Fulton County Schools. I look forward to working with the school board, colleagues and the community to positively impact the education for all students," said Dr. Rose.
Dr. Rose's first day on the job began with meeting his district office staff and other leaders in his administration. In the coming weeks he will continue to meet with school leaders, elected officials, parents, and key business and community leaders to assess Fulton's successes, its challenges and ways to bridge the gaps in between.
Before his appointment as Fulton's superintendent, Dr. Rose was the leader of Oregon's third largest school system, Beaverton School District, for five years. Its district of 41,000 students and 51 schools shares similarities to Fulton's diverse population and student achievement. Located just outside of Portland, Beaverton is about half minority with students speaking 94 languages whereas Fulton is about two-thirds minority.
Dr. Rose holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and a master's degree in Teacher Education from Lewis & Clark College in Oregon and a bachelor's degree in Education from California State University, Long Beach. Prior to joining Beaverton, he was superintendent of the Canby (Ore.) School District for three years.
Dr. Rose and his wife, Lisa, have a 12-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son who will attend Fulton schools this fall.
We ask that attendees consider bringing donations for the Teacher's Supply Closet, a joint endeavor of Sandy Springs Education Force and the Community Assistance Center (CAC), in support of our public schools. Acceptable donations include crayons, binders, colored pencils, composition notebooks, pens, flash drives, Sharpies, graph paper, etc. We thank you in advance for any support you may offer.
